Roeder claims Norwich innocence

Glenn Roeder
Roeder says the accusations are an 'irritation'

Norwich boss Glenn Roeder has said he is certain his team had no involvement in suspected betting irregularities during their recent defeat by Derby.

Asian betting markets reported unusual activity during the match, prompting the Football Association to launch an enquiry into the game.

"I don't know exact details of the accusations being made about that game," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"But I'll be 100% certain that there's no-one at Norwich City involved."

Both clubs deny any wrongdoing

The accusations have been made public after Norfolk MPs Norman Lamb and Dr Ian Gibson raised questions in the House of Commons naming the game on October 4 as being under investigation.

Lamb and Gibson came under fierce criticism from Derby chairman Adam Pearson on Thursday, who said they should stick to politics.

But Roeder refused to speak out against the two Carrow Road season ticket holders.

"In life people have to do what they think's right, whether it's right or wrong is for other people to decide," he said.

"I also believe that too many people publicly state their own opinions when they should keep their own counsel.

"When I find out how this has all broken and caused an irritation I'll decide whether I want to say anything publicly."
