Norwich City have unveiled a new sponsorship deal worth a seven-figure sum with insurance giants Aviva.

The parent company of Norwich Union will have its logo on the team's shirts from the start of next season.

It is a three-year deal worth more than 1m and will include sponsorship of the Community Stand at Carrow Road.

Canaries director Delia Smith told BBC Radio Norfolk: "It's been a dream since I joined the board to get this shirt sponsor, it's fantastic."

She continued: "It's a great day for the club. The fact that they're announcing that they're a world brand on the same day is great for Norfolk."

Aviva director John Kitson said: "I'm a massive Norwich City fan and I live here, so I am very aware of how huge a role the club plays in the local community."

The deal was announced just four days after budget airline Flybe decided not to continue their sponsorship.
