Norwich secure Smith from Chelsea

Norwich have signed Chelsea midfielder Jimmy Smith in a loan deal which runs until the end of December.

The 20-year-old has made just one substitute appearance for Chelsea's first team, but spent last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers.

He scored six goals in 29 Championship appearances while with QPR.

"There were one or two other Championship clubs that wanted him, so we are pleased he has chosen us," boss Peter Grant told Norwich's website.

"He likes to push up into the opposition box and it gives us a different mix."

Smith, who has come through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge, is also a former England Under-19 international.
