Norwich and Morocco midfielder Youssef Safri will miss the rest of the season because of a gall bladder problem.
The complaint had not stopped the 29-year-old training but the club were keen to have the problem rectified and got him to see a specialist last week.
Boss Nigel Worthington told the club's website: "Saf will be having the operation on Monday.
"That will put him out for the rest of the season and hopefully we can get him right for the start of pre-season."
