Notman the Norwich man
Curtis Woodhouse and Alex Notman celebrate a goal
Notman found the net three times while with the Blades
Twenty-four hours after having a bid for Manchester United's David Healy rejected, Norwich City manager Bryan Hamilton has returned to Old Trafford to strike a deal for Healy's reserve team strike partner Alex Notman.

The forward, who celebrates his 21st birthday next month, was frustrated by the lack of first team football United had to offer and has moved to Carrow Road in a 250,000 deal.

The Edinburgh born striker made just one appearance in a Worthington Cup match two years ago although in seven starts while on loan at Sheffield United last season, he found the net three times.

Notman goes straight into the squad for the Division One clash with Portsmouth.

On signing the youngster to a three-and-a-half year deal Hamilton said: "We are delighted to have signed a very good player who comes from a very good school where he has been coached by some fine people."

Notman echoed his new manager's glee: "I am delighted that Norwich have given me the opportunity to play first team football."

"I had a big smile on my face when Alex Ferguson told me a deal had been agreed with Norwich.
