Northampton Town have agreed a deal with Kevin Thornton to keep him at the club until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old midfielder joined the Cobblers in January initially on a monthly contract.
Manager Ian Sampson told the club's website: "Kevin has done well and has impressed us.
"He has earned his longer contract. He knows he has plenty of hard work ahead of him, but I think he is making good progress," he added.
Thornton has made three substitute appearances for Northampton so far.
