Mulligan on target for Cobblers

Mulligan made the scoresheet on his debut for the Cobblers

Northampton Town's new stirker Gary Mulligan scored from the penalty spot as they fought out a 1-1 draw in their pre-season friendly at Histon.

The 24-year-old put away a spot-kick in the 41st minute only for the hosts to equalise through Josh Simpson midway through the second half.

Mulligan joined the Cobblers from Gillingham last month.

Goalkeeper Chris Dunn also made his first start of the pre-season campaign at the Glassworld Stadium.

Northampton continue their build-up with a trip to Corby Town on Saturday (1500 BST).
