Cobblers boss Gray is desperate to add a new striker to his squad
Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray has said that the club needs to buy another striker before the League Two season begins on 8 August.
Gray told BBC Northampton: "We definitely need another striker.
"In a ideal scenario we would have two players for every position, but that isn't possible this season."
Gray also confirmed that former Arsenal defender Paul Rodgers is currently training at the club, in an attempt to prove his fitness and gain a contract.
Rodgers, who is now a free agent, made 11 appearances in a loan spell with the Cobblers at the end of the 2008-09 season, but could not prevent them being relegated from League One on the final day of the campaign.
The 19-year-old made just one start for the Gunners, in a 2-0 defeat at Burnley in the Carling Cup in December.
