Cobblers hit with Stamp duty
Northampton Town have been instructed to pay £45,000 for Scarborough striker Darryn Stamp.

Stamp joined the Cobblers on a two-year deal earlier this summer.

However, the two clubs could not agree a fee and the matter was resolved at a Football League tribunal on Monday.

The Second Division club will pay £30,000 up front for the 23-year-old, who was Scarborough's leading scorer last season with 14 goals.

We're satisfied - you have to accept the verdict and you have to get on with things
Scarborough manager Russell Slade

The remainder will be paid in three instalments after Stamp has made 15, 30 and 45 appearances for his new club.

Scarborough will also receive a 10% sell-on fee should Northampton profit from a future sale of the former Scunthorpe player, who moved to the McCain Stadium last summer following a successful loan spell.

The Nationwide Conference club had hoped to net £60,000 but were satisfied with the outcome after Northampton, who they had previously reported to the FA for making an illegal approach for the player, had offered just £5,000.

Manager Russell Slade said: "When you come to these places you don't know what you will come out with.

"We are £15,000 shy of what we were hoping to get but they are £40,000 up on what they had hoped to pay.

"We're satisfied. You have to accept the verdict and you have to get on with things."
