Newcastle striker Xisco set to join Deportivo on loan

Xisco in action for Deportivo La Coruna
Xisco has been unable to make an impression at Newcastle

Newcastle forward Xisco is poised to re-join Deportivo La Coruna on loan - subject to a medical on Monday.

The Spanish striker moved to Newcastle from Deportivo in a £5.7m deal in 2008 but has struggled to win a regular starting place at St James's Park.

Xisco, 24, spent last season on loan at Racing Santander, having made just 11 appearances for Newcastle, scoring just once for the Magpies.

Deportivo are also hoping to sign Argentine striker Jose Sand.

Middlesbrough had hoped to persuade Xisco to join them on loan, but they were willing to pay only a portion of his wages, which are reportedly in excess of £50,000 a week.

The former Spain under-21 international has not appeared for Newcastle since making two cameos last August.
