Newcastle midfielder Danny Guthrie over injury worries
Guthrie made his first start of the campaign against Wigan last weekend
Newcastle United midfielder Danny Guthrie has revealed he is keen to put his injury worries behind him after returning to first team action.
Guthrie, 23, made his first appearance against Wigan Athletic on Saturday having recovered from a knee injury which stalled his start to the season.
"It's been a long couple of months for me," Guthrie told BBC Newcastle.
"It was bad timing to get the injury on the eve of the season but I'm pleased to be back and I'm looking forward."
Guthrie added: "It was frustrating, especially at the weekends watching the lads playing the games, with so many on telly, it was really hard.
"I just got my head down, and made a quick recovery."
The Magpies travel to West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday, before a run of games which includes bitter rivals Sunderland, a reunion with former boss Sam Allardyce's Blackburn, and Arsenal.
"It's something we all look forward to," Guthrie added.
"We have strength in depth this year which we haven't had for a few years, where we can rotate, and lads can come in and do as good a job as the players who go out.
