Ryan Taylor targets Newcastle United home improvement

Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor says that the Magpies need to improve their home form after two successive defeats at St James' Park.

United, who went through the whole of last season unbeaten at home on the way to winning the Championship, have been beaten by Blackpool and Stoke City.

"We should be picking up points but we haven't, we need to concentrate on the home form," Taylor told BBC Newcastle.

"When Blackpool and Stoke come here, we should be picking up points from them."

Away from home, Newcastle have tasted defeat just once in five games in all competitions this season, including a 1-0 win at Everton in the Premier League and a thrilling 4-3 defeat of Chelsea in the third round of the Carling Cup.

The Magpies' only loss on the road came at the hands of Manchester United on the opening day of the campaign.

"It's been one of those seasons so far, we've picked up results where people don't see us picking up results," added Taylor.

"But it just shows what character we've got when we go to places like Wolves and Everton and pick up points there."

Taylor joined Newcastle from Wigan Athletic in February 2009 and has played 49 games for the club, but has been restricted to just three appearances this season.
