Magpies going well - Lovenkrands

Newcastle United forward Peter Lovenkrands has called for the mood to be lifted at St James' Park going into the international break.

Saturday's goalless draw with Bristol City left some supporters disappointed but the Danish international feels the future is bright for the club.

"We need to look at the positives," he told BBC Newcastle.

"We're playing well, we're clear at the top of the league and the boys are happy, we'll look forward."

Despite leaving Newcastle at the end of last season, Lovenkrands rejoined the club in September as a free-agent, but has struggled to make an impact in the first-team.

Saturday's draw was his first start since his return and the 29-year-old was pleased to be back in the first XI.

"I've had a problem trying to get my fitness back, it's been hard coming in and I've not had much training as the other boys with pre-season," he said.

"Plus it's been hard to do well in training because we've played so many games, but it's looking good now.

"I've been doing well in training and it showed as I felt really good, and playing with Andy Carroll and Marlon Harewood is really good because they're two good players."
