Danny Guthrie believes he is capable of scoring more goals after finding the net for the first time as a Newcastle player in Sunday's win over Portsmouth.
The former Liverpool midfielder scored United's third in the 3-0 win over Pompey at Fratton Park.
He told BBC Radio Newcastle: "Now I've scored I want to get as many as I can.
"It will really help if we can score goals all over the pitch and not rely on Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins or Shola Ameobi to score."
Guthrie also insisted that interim manager Joe Kinnear is tactically astute enough for the job is now reaping the rewards with results.
"Away from home we've been really solid and the clean sheets at Chelsea and Middlesbrough showed what we're trying to do," said Guthrie.
"Against Portsmouth we added the goals and that's what's been missing."
