Money used to manage Australian side Newcastle United Jets
Newcastle United have confirmed the appointment of former Walsall boss Richard Money as academy director.
Money, who has managed in Sweden and Australia, resigned from the Saddlers in April after nearly two seasons at The Banks's Stadium.
He told BBC WM: "It's too big a job to turn down. It's a wonderful opportunity for me.
"I probably needed the break but now I'm refreshed and I'm really looking forward to this new challenge."
The 52-year-old will work alongside Joe Joyce, the club's academy manager and other coaching staff in developing the club's youth academy.
Money took Walsall to the League Two title in his first full season and steered them into promotion contention last season in League One before his shock departure.
He said: "I've enjoyed the break because it's been a very hard two years. I'm just very pleased we [Walsall] were successful."
