Keegan relishes Chelsea contest

Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan has admitted he is excited about the prospect of facing Chelsea on Monday.

Keegan has only been in charge at St James' Park since January but is relishing seeing his side do battle with one of Europe's elite clubs.

"It is a chance for us to gauge how far we've come against a top side," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.

"It's a great game for us because when you play one of the big four and they're trying to win it adds spice."

With no opportunity of silverware remaining during this campaign Newcastle could be forgiven for taking their foot off the gas.

We want to send our fans happy in our stadium dreaming about a better season

However Keegan is adamant his team will be pumped up during Monday's game.

"What more can you play for in football than your pride? It's everything - pride in the shirt, pride in the performance.

"We want to finish our last game of the season, send our fans happy in our stadium thinking and dreaming about a better season next year. There's plenty to play for."
