Taylor injury blow for Newcastle
Steven Taylor
Newcastle defender Steven Taylor could be out of action from between eight to 10 weeks with a shoulder injury.

The 19-year-old, who has been a regular in the Magpies team this season, hurt his shoulder while playing for the England Under-21s last week.

"It's a blow to us. The specialist says he will be out longer than first anticipated," manager Graeme Souness told the club website.

"It's about eight to 10 weeks, but I'm confident he will be back before that."

Taylor, who has made 16 starts this season, has been playing alongside Frenchman Jean-Alain Boumsong in the heart of defence as a result of the pre-season injury to Titus Bramble.

"It's a shame for him as he was in possession of the shirt, and these things happen," added Souness.

"It's the risk you take when players go away on international duty.

"You hope they come back fine. It hasn't happened this time, but that's the way it goes.'
