Newcastle's Michael Owen could miss the derby with Sunderland after straining a hamstring during a practice match.
The match was arranged for the benefit of Nolberto Solano and Emre, who have been out of the team with injuries.
The 25-year-old striker limped out of the game after 20 minutes and could be replaced by Shola Ameobi on Sunday.
Sunderland's Julio Arca believes he has a 50-50 chance of featuring but fellow midfielder Christian Bassila has ruled himself out with a hamstring problem.
Lee Bowyer is also struggling for Newcastle with a knee injury while Kieron Dyer and Albert Luque will definitely miss out.
Number two goalkeeper Steve Harper suffered an injury in the same practice match while defender Craig Moore hobbled off in a reserve match against Birmingham on Tuesday.
