Souness cautious despite away win
SOUNESS'S VIEW
Newcastle boss Graeme Souness
Graeme Souness believes that Newcastle still have work to do to reach the Uefa Cup quarter-finals, despite winning 3-1 at Olympiakos in the first leg.

The Magpies boss said: "I have been in professional football 37 years and nothing is over until it is over.

"But I am extremely proud as they've not lost at home in Europe this season.

"We had to be disciplined and we could not be as aggressive as we would normally be because we were thinking we could also end up down to nine men."

The home side were furious with the referee's performance after he sent off two Olympiakos players before half-time.

But Souness had no complaints with the officials.

He added: "I have only seen our penalty after the game and, in my view, it was a penalty.

"The second one I have not seen but my players tell me it was a penalty."

Olympiakos coach Dusan Bajevic admitted that his side would face a tough task on Tyneside, despite Souness' caution.

He said: "I respect my colleague's comment that it is not over until it is over - but I am not sure whether he really believes it.

"But we are not going to England just for a trip, we have the prestige and the history of the club at stake and we will do the best we can in the return game."
