Emre future still to be decided

Newcastle and Everton are still locked in talks with Italian giants Inter Milan over a 4m deal for Turkey international Emre Belozoglu.

Newcastle remain favourites, although an unnamed third club is interested.

The 24-year-old's agent Ahmet Bulut told BBC Sport: "There are still three clubs talking to Inter about Emre but we are still waiting.

"He has not said anything about where he wants to go because we know there are three top clubs that want him."

He added: "We hope every day that there will be definite news, but there is nothing yet."

BBC Sport understands Everton have agreed a fee but are unwilling to meet Emre's 60,000-a-week pay demands - while Newcastle will meet his terms but are still negotiating with Inter.

Emre played only 19 Serie A games for Inter last season and missed the two-legged Coppa Italia final after picking up a groin injury.

He also attracted interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce, but Istanbul-based Bulut insists his client will move to the Premiership.

"Fenerbahce did express an interest, but the player will play next year in England," he said. "We are not thinking about playing here in Turkey."

Newcastle and Everton have found themselves in direct competition for a player already this summer, with the Magpies managing to edge ahead of their Merseyside rivals to land Chelsea midfielder Scott Parker in a 6.5m swoop.

Toffees boss David Moyes would be disappointed to lose out a second time, although the Magpies believe they remain in the driving seat provided that they can meet Inter's valuation.
