Team talk works wonders for Motherwell boss Craig Brown
Brown wants to reward Motherwell fans with a home win next week
Motherwell manager Craig Brown revealed his half-time team talk paid dividends in the 2-0 Scottish Premier League victory over Hearts at Tynecastle.
"We were disappointed at half-time with the way we had played," Brown told BBC Scotland after the 2-0 victory.
"I said to them at half-time, 'if you don't take the chances that you get, you could live to regret it, so make sure you come in here with no regrets'.
"They played exceptionally well in the second half."
Chris Humphrey set up both goals, scored by Nick Blackman and John Sutton, at the end of a landmark week for the winger.
We're doing very well away from home in the SPL this season but the fans are due a home victory
"It's quite coincidental, he's just had a baby yesterday and he missed training on Friday because he was away at the birth of his second daughter," said Brown of Humphrey.
"Obviously we're all pleased for Chris but particularly pleased with the way he played today."
Motherwell have won all three of their away matches in this season's SPL but are yet to record victory at home.
"We don't set targets," added Brown. "I did happen to say to them at half-time, 'if we win this game, we will go third in the league' - which is a good incentive. But I don't want to put pressure on them.
"There's a lot to come from the team yet and that's the pleasing factor.
"I did feel we had the edge. Our goalkeeper had one save throughout the match. I think Jim Jefferies would agree that we deserved to win the game but we have to keep our feet on the ground and get busy on Monday again for next week's home game. It's time we won a home game.
