Malcolm completes move Down Under

Bob Malcolm says he is looking forward to life in Australia

Former Rangers, Derby and Motherwell player Bob Malcolm has finalised his move to Australian A-League side Brisbane Roar on a one-year deal.

The 28-year-old midfielder seized the chance to join former Rangers team-mates Craig Moore and Charlie Miller once his contract expired at Fir Park.

Malcolm said: "Playing in Scotland and England the last few years was hard.

"I'm looking to come over here and still work hard but in a different style of football."

Malcolm, from Glasgow, made 66 appearances for Rangers from 1997-2006 but left Ibrox after falling out of favour under then Rangers manager Paul Le Guen.

He moved south to Derby County, then went on loan to Queens Park Rangers before joining Mark McGhee's Motherwell in February 2008.

On leaving Fir Park in June, Malcolm said: "I am glad I came to Motherwell when I did, it's a good club to be involved with.

"Obviously things didn't quite work out the way I wanted at times but overall it was a good experience for me.

"Being part of the Motherwell team that qualified for Europe in third place then starting in both legs against Nancy is one of the highlights of my career."

Malcolm's new club begin their season against Gold Coast United at home on 8 August.
