McGhee claims referee cost 'Well

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee
Mark McGhee said his side's defending was poor against Celtic

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee hit out at referee Steve Conroy after his decision to award a corner rather than a goal kick led to Celtic's winner.

"We didn't get many decisions. The boys are very aggrieved and didn't think it was a corner," McGhee told BBC Sport.

"We didn't defend very well at either goal but we feel very disappointed - in fact, let down.

"The team we put out was all about shape and it was a terrific performance from my players."

Motherwell, aiming to hold on to third spot and Uefa Cup qualification, took the lead through Chris Porter.

However, Celtic hit back with headed goals from Scott McDonald and Georgios Samaras.

McGhee made five changes to his side and was rewarded with a spirited showing.

"We looked like a good, well-organised, disciplined team," he added. "We know our weakness and we know what we have to address in the summer.

"We need to get better at defending, particularly at set-pieces."
