Leitch praises battling spirit
Dirk Lehmann is congratulated after scoring Motherwell's second goal
Motherwell almost earned a draw against Livingston
Motherwell captain Scott Leitch believes the bookies have got it wrong for once.

Many have made Motherwell favourites for relegation from the Scottish Premier League this season after their much-publicised financial problems of the past few months.

While an opening day defeat was not the ideal start to the season, the manner in which the Lanarkshire side came back in the second half against Livingston has proved to Leitch that the club will not go down without a fight.

Manager Terry Butcher was sent to the stand for dissent as Motherwell came from three goals down to give Livi a fright with two goals of their own.

Leitch insists Butcher's never-say-die attitude is rubbing off on the players.

"The new manager is great. He builds us up for the game throughout the week and lets you know exactly what he wants - lots of spirit - and I think everyone could see that, despite the result," said Leitch.

"We started badly early on, but the team played well after that and deserved credit.

"We'll gain a lot of confidence especially after fighting back like we did.

"We showed plenty of passion for such a young side, but unfortunately didn't taken anything out of the game."
