Ex-Well men seek compensation
Greg Strong in action against Aberdeen
Struggling Motherwell went into administration in April
The 19 players who had their contracts terminated by Motherwell after the club went into administration are to submit letters of complaint to the Scottish Premier League.

Ten of those players would have become out of contract during the close season, but the remaining nine had at least a year left on their contracts.

Former Fir Park captain Greg Strong is confident of receiving adequate compensation.

"We'll be putting our case to the SPL," Strong told BBC Scotland.

"If they agree with us, and hopefully they will, then our case will be referred to the Scottish Football Association.

"Once the SFA are involved, sanctions will be taken against the club until we get the money we are owed."

Along with Strong, the other players with at least a year to go at Motherwell were Mark Brown, Karl Ready, Andy Dow, Brian Macdonald, Eddie Forrest, Roberto Martinez, Stephen Cosgrove and Kevin Twaddle.

Strong, who was signed from Bolton two years ago, is confident of signing for a team in the north-east of England soon, but warns many of his former colleagues won't be so lucky.

"With about a 1,000 players expected to be out of work over the summer in Britain, finding a club is going to be really difficult," Strong added.

Defender Ready has been linked with a move to America, while winger Twaddle is reported to have interested Hearts and Livingston.
