Alloa sell McAnespie to Morton

Morton have bought defender Kieran McAnespie from Alloa Athletic for a five-figure sum.

The 27-year-old former St Johnstone, Fulham, Plymouth Argyle, Falkirk and Ayr United defender had recently agreed a new contract with Alloa.

But it allowed him to move should a full-time club make a suitable offer.

Alloa's website stated: "This transfer was fully supported by the manager and that all funds raised from the transfer will be available to the manager."

McAnespie joined Alloa from Second Division rivals Ayr last summer and made 29 appearances for the Clackmannan club.

Now he will be playing for promoted Morton in Division One in the coming campaign.

The Alloa statement said the deal with McAnespie "has allowed the club to sell Kieran on for a significant profit".
