Morecambe captain Jim Bentley believes the FA Cup has never lost its unique passion or intrigue.
The 33-year-old, whose side travel to Carlisle in Saturday's first round, is relishing playing in the world's most prestigious domestic cup competition.
"The romance is still there for me," Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"It's a welcome distraction from the league and it's always nice when cup weekend comes around. It's a great competition to be involved in."
Yet despite the romance of the competition, Bentley believes the league will always take precedence.
Morale is as good as it's been all season

Last Saturday's victory over Lincoln City, which was Morecambe's second league win of the campaign, has given the players added confidence.
"First and foremost is our league form and we need to get up the table as soon as possible," said the Liverpool-born midfielder.
"Morale is as good as it's been all season, but we just want to keep winning games because that's what we're in the business for.
"The mood's not been too bad throughout this season. I know the results haven't gone particularly well but we're set up nicely for this weekend."
