Bentley urges supporters' backing

Jim Bentley
Bentley captained Morecambe to Conference play-off success in 2007

Morecambe captain Jim Bentley has urged the club's supporters to be realistic with their expectations.

A minority of spectators booed the players following last Saturday's draw with Grimsby, and Bentley believes the criticism is unfair.

"One or two of the things said need a line drawing under," the midfielder, 32, told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"We're still one of the smaller sides in this league, and you'd always swap the Conference for League football."

"The people involved who made those comments need to look at the bigger picture and get right behind the lads.

"We all want the same thing and that's winning games of football and to be successful.

"The main thing about a football club is the fans and we need them pulling with us," he added.
