Montrose take Dundee United trio

Montrose

Montrose have secured the signatures of five players, with three of them arriving from Dundee United.

Midfielder Sean Fleming and defenders Gordon Pope and Fraser Milligan, all 20-year-olds, have signed two-year contracts with the Division Three club.

As have striker Jon Voigt and utility man James Collier, both from junior outfit Carnoustie Panmure.

Voigt had senior experience with Dundee, while Collier was previously with Aberdeen and Albion Rovers.

Montrose manager Steven Tweed told his club website: "This is a chance for both of them to show people that they can make it in the senior grade.

"Coming from United, the young lads have had a good football education and hopefully joining us will, for them, be a case of taking a step back to take a step forward.

"Fraser and Gordon are already well known to us having been here on loan, while Sean has also had a taste of this division through being loaned to Albion Rovers last season."

Tweed has now turned his attention to signing a goalkeeper.

The experienced Tony Bullock moved to Dundee while fellow goalkeeper Greg Kelly was also among the players released at the end of the season.

Defenders Kyle Wright, David Worrell, Stephen Thomson, midfielders Kevin Bradley, Paul Stewart, Keith Gibson, Stephen Black and forward Roddy Hunter, who was last season's top goalscorer with nine goals, also exited Links Park.

Player/coach Jamie McKenzie also left Montrose, having arrived from Cumnock juniors in January.

Experienced midfielder Jamie Buchan is waiting for his injury to clear up before deciding whether to accept a new contract.
