Tweed takes charge at Links Park

Steven Tweed
Tweed had spells in Greece, Germany and Japan

Steven Tweed is to leave East Fife and become new player-manager of Montrose.

The 36-year-old former Dundee and Hibs defender has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal at the Third Division side for his first taste of management.

Jim Weir was relieved of his duties at Links Park in October despite the team being in a promotion play-off spot.

Former Celtic and Dundee United midfielder David Hannah took over in a caretaker capacity soon after but stood down after eight games in charge.

Tweed, twice capped at B level for Scotland during his days with Hibs in 1995, moved to Methil from Livingston and has been with East Fife for a season-and-a-half.

He is well travelled as a footballer, having had spells in Greece, with Ionikos, MSV Duisburg in Germany and Yokohama in Japan.
