Mk Dons boss considers David Martin place

David Martin
Martin has kept six clean sheets this season

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson says that goalkeeper David Martin's place in the side is under threat.

The 24-year-old has made costly errors in both of the Dons last outings.

Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio: "There's only one of him and there's 10 outfield players, he comes under the spotlight even more.

"If I look at the goals and I feel a number of them are down to him then yes, he's going to be under pressure because that's the nature of the game."

Martin, who has played 22 times for Robinson's side since arriving in the summer, dropped a cross to gift Stevenage a last-minute equaliser in last week's FA Cup replay defeat.

And the former Liverpool goalkeeper will be disappointed to have let Neil Mellor's header squirm underneath him to put Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 up in Saturday's 4-1 reverse.

But Robinson added all of his squad have to prove they are worthy of a place in his starting line up.

"It's not just his position, it's every position," he said.

"If a forward wasn't doing what I asked him to do or my midfield players weren't they'd be under the same scrutiny.

"There's no player safe in the team whatsoever, that's Dave Martin included. I've got decisions to make."

Meanwhile Robinson confirmed that second-choice goalkeeper Stuart Searle was not present on Saturday because his wife had given birth the same day.
