New Millwall chairman Peter de Savary has targeted the Premiership in five years but is aware there are problems that will not be solved quickly.
De Savary is up for the challenge at Millwall
The 61-year-old, who led Britain's America's Cup challenge in 1983, started the position on 29 November.
De Savary said: "Within five years we want to be one of the top 15 clubs in the country.
"The odds are against us, most of my friends felt I was barking mad to join Millwall - but that's the challenge."
De Savary added: "The invitation from the board to become chairman of Millwall was one about which I was initially apprehensive, and I wasn't sure that I would be the right person.
"But once I understood everything, I saw that it would be a great challenge and a great opportunity.
"I'm going to sit down with the management, and make a
short-term plan, a medium-term plan and a long-term plan."
