Middlesbrough striker Noel Whelan has signed a one-year deal with
Millwall.
The 28-year-old will make his Lions debut in their curtain-raiser against Wigan on Saturday.
Millwall boss Mark McGhee swooped after learning front man Mark McCammon will
be out for up to four months with a knee injury.
McGhee told the official club website, www.millwallfc.co.uk: "In the last
couple of years Noel's not quite been the player he was and I'm hoping we can
galvanise him once more.
Whelan arrived at the Riverside Stadium in a £2.2m move from Coventry in August 2000.
But he struggled to command a regular place after a series of niggling injuries and McClaren's arrival and subsequent rebuilding work.
Whelan made 72 appearances for Boro in his three years on Teesside, 30 of them as a substitute, and scored 10 goals.
