Millwall seal Dublin deal
Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin
Millwall will look to Dublin to fire them into the play-offs
First Division Millwall have bolstered their promotion push with the signing of Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin.

Lions boss Mark McGhee made his move for the 32-year-old in an attempt to solve his problems in attack where the prolific Richard Sadlier is sidelined with a hip injury.

Dublin will make his debut for the Lions in their league encounter against relegated Stockport at The New Den.

"The fact that we are signing someone of Dion's calibre reflects how highly we rate Richard Sadlier," McGhee told the club's website.

"We didn't think that we could just go out there and pick up a striker out of anywhere, we needed someone who was top quality and that is what we are getting.

"It says a lot about Dion that he is keen to come here and sees the opportunity of playing in a final at Cardiff as a worthwhile experience and one that he would like to be a part of.

"He could have stayed at Villa until the end of the season, but he has chosen to come to us instead and that says a lot about his attitude and desire to be playing football."

Dublin is likely to find himself surplus to requirements at Villa Park following manager Graham Taylor's 5m swoop for Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch.
