Middlesbrough have signed Egypt international midfielder Mohamed Shawky for £650,000.
Shawky has won 42 caps
The Ahly player, 25, impressed manager Gareth Southgate during a training stint over the past few days.
Shawky had been on trial along with Ahly team mate Emad Moteab, who Southgate decided against signing.
The midfielder, who has 42 caps, is Southgate's second Egyptian signing following striker Mido, who arrived from Tottenham earlier in August.
