Brazilian midfielder Doriva has been released by Middlesbrough after new manager Gareth Southgate decided not to offer him a new contract.
Doriva spent three-and-a-half years at the Riverside Stadium
The 34-year-old joined Boro from Celta Vigo in January 2003, and has made 110 league and cup appearances for them.
Southgate said: "It was another difficult decision - he has been a fabulous guy to work with for the last three-and-a-half years.
"He is a real gentleman and was always very popular among his team-mates."
Boro announced earlier in the week that another 34-year-old, striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, would not be offered a new deal.
