Margate sign international skipper
New Zealand captain Chris Zoricich

Margate have completed the signing of New Zealand captain Chris Zoricich and Portuguese defender Bruno Miguel Baltazar.

But striker Warren Patmore has left the club after deciding to hang up his boots

Margate received international clearance for Zoricich several weeks ago but the defender has just returned to this country after renewing his residency permit.

The 34-year-old, who has previously played in England with Leyton Orient and Doncaster, is expected to be included in Chris Kinnear's squad for Saturday's game against Chester City.

"Chris is a quality player, a full international and captain of his country. His experience will be a great asset to us," said Margate chairman Jim Parmenter.

Baltazar, 27, will also be available to face Chester, subject to receiving international clearance following a spell with German regional league side Dresdner Sports Club.

Meanwhile, Patmore has announced his retirement after six games for Margate, who he joined in the summer, to concentrate on his business interests.

"Warren does not believe he is doing himself or the club justice because of lack of fitness and niggling repetitive injuries," Parmenter told the club's website.

"The player has been honest with the club and we appreciate that. Therefore we have reached agreement for his contract to be terminated.

"He is definitely retiring and has made it clear we can continue to hold his playing registration. We wish Warren great success in his business venture."

Patmore, 32, had previously been a prolific goalscorer for Woking and Yeovil Town in the Nationwide Conference and played briefly in the Football League with Rushden & Diamonds.
