Mansfield have sacked manager Keith Curle following an internal inquiry into his conduct.
Curle was suspended from duty by the Stags on 11 November while an internal inquiry into his conduct was carried out by the club.
Chairman Keith Haslam described the evidence against the former England defender as "overwhelming".
Carlton Palmer took over from Curle and will continue to manage the team until a full-time successor is named.
"We hope that now we can put this unfortunate incident behind us and start looking to the future.
"A replacement manager will be sought at the earliest convenience and will be announced when an appointment has been made," said a statement on the club's website.
