Sellars boost for Stags
Second Division newcomers Mansfield Town have re-signed veteran midfielder Scott Sellars.
And Stags boss Stuart Watkiss has further strengthened his squad by recruiting young Walsall defender Matthew Gadsby on a three-month loan deal. Thirty-six-year-old Sellars helped Mansfield clinch promotion after moving to Field Mill for the final six games of last season. The former Newcastle, Bolton, Blackburn and Leeds United play-maker has spent part of pre-season at Nationwide Conference club Kettering Town but has now agreed a five-month contract with Mansfield. Gadsby has started 27 League games for Walsall since coming through the youth ranks at the Bescot Stadium and featured heavily for the Saddlers during the first half of last season. However, manager Colin Lee has now allowed the 22-year-old, who can play at centre-back or right-back, to broaden his experience with the Stags. "I've tracked Matthew's progress for a long time now and I'm pleased we've got him," Watkiss told the club's website.
