Cruyff makes Spanish switch
![]() Jordi Cruyff is returning to Spain from Old Trafford
Manchester United's Jordi Cruyff has joined Spanish side Alaves.
The Dutch international agreed a one-year contract with the Spanish first division side on Monday and moves on a free transfer Cruyff made his name in Spain with Barcelona, and despite interest from a number of English clubs including West Ham and Southampton, has turned his back on the Premiership. Alaves, who will compete in the Uefa Cup in the coming season, have also offered Cruyff the option to sign a three-year extension to the deal in June. After four seasons as a squad player at Old Trafford, Cruyff is hoping the move will seem him back playing first team football again. "I've come here to work hard," he said as he was unveiled to the press. "I'm desperate to play every week."
