Eriksson says Man Utd suit Owen
Sven-Goran Eriksson and Michael owen
England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson wants to see Michael Owen move to Manchester United if the 25-year-old striker leaves Real Madrid for the Premiership.

"If I was manager of a big club in England I would go for Michael Owen, that is for sure," Eriksson said.

"What I read, what I've heard, is it might be a possibility that Manchester United take him, and as England coach I shouldn't complain if that is the case.

"For him to work every day with Wayne Rooney can only make England better."

Owen's future in the Spanish capital has been cast in doubt following the summer arrivals of strikers Julio Baptista and Robinho.

It means he is potentially fifth in the pecking order at the Bernabeu with Raul and Ronaldo also likely to start before him.

As a result Owen has been linked with a host of Premiership teams and the England striker has admitted his advisers have had brief talks with up to four teams.

"Michael Owen has been a great player for many years wherever he has played - Liverpool or Real Madrid," Eriksson added.

"For the big games he is always there and he has scored 32 goals for England. That is a lot and he is just 25-years-old. He is still young. We forget that sometimes."
