Keeper Frey claims Man Utd link
Sebastian Frey in action for Parma
Parma goalkeeper Sebastian Frey claims Manchester United want to sign him in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old Frenchman, who has been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal in the past, says preliminary talks between United and his agent have taken place.

"United are following my progress and my agent recently met their directors," Frey told the News of the World.

"Inter Milan also want me and Parma have agreed they will not complicate things if I get a good offer."

American Tim Howard and Roy Carroll are vying for the number one shirt at United this season.

Both players have been given their chance in the first team, with Carroll manager Sir Alex Ferguson's prefered choice in recent matches.

And managing director David Gill has already hinted there would be no more new arrivals at Old Trafford, following Wayne Rooney's 27m move from Everton.

Frey has been a consistent performer for Parma in Serie A over the past three seasons.

But the cash-strapped club have been forced to sell many of their star players, including Brazilian striker Adriano and Japan midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata.
