Nevilles sign new deals

Manchester United brothers Gary and Phil Neville have agreed new five-year contracts with the club.

Gary, 29, and Phil, 27, signed the deals before jetting off to join United on a pre-season United States tour.

The England duo's father Neville Neville negotiated the contracts worth an expected £50,000-a-week each.

Both players have each come through the Old Trafford ranks and established themselves for club and country, with both going to Euro 2004 this summer.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson welcomed the news, saying: "We are always pleased when members of the first team squad commit themselves to future contracts.

"It retains the consistency in the club and both of them have been great servants to us. They have given us great years and they will give us more great years."

Gary joined United on schoolboy terms in 1991 and made his first-team debut in the Uefa Cup against Torpedo Moscow in September 1992.

The right-back has since made more than 400 appearances for United and won the Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League with the club.

He signed a six-year deal in May 2001 but his new contract takes him up to 2009.

Phil joined the club as a trainee in 1993 and made his first-team bow in the derby against arch-rivals Manchester City in February 1995.

In the same season, he was also captain of the club's FA Youth Cup winning side.

The younger of the siblings, who also signed a six-year deal back in May 2001, has been used at full-back but is now regarded more as a holding midfielder.
