FERGUSON'S VIEW
|
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson felt his side were unfortunate to lose 1-0 to title rivals Chelsea.
"We played some really good football at times. We had three or four chances and you have to take one of them," he said.
"Our crossing could have been better but we dominated and have been the better team without winning.
"We risked everything but couldn't get the breaks we needed. It was a sloppy goal from our point of view - to concede on the counter-attack."
Chelsea forward Eidur Gudjohnsen broke the deadlock in the first half.
United spent much of the second period in the Chelsea half, but they found the Blues' defence hard to break down.
Ferguson added: "It was the same last year - we had a lot of the ball and lost to a penalty.
"But I'm confident in the ability of the team - I was before the match and I've no reason to think any differently after it.
"Our play in the last third was scrappy, there were some over-hit crosses but it was a good performance, we worked hard, passed well and were a bit unlucky.
"I think we played well as a team and showed desire to win the match. We had one or two really good moves."
