Quinton Fortune has put himself in line for a Manchester United recall by completing the full 90 minutes in Thursday's reserve team draw with
Sunderland.
Fortune has managed one substitutes' appearance since aggravating a thigh injury during the opening-day win over Bolton.
The South African, who was operating in central midfield, came through the 2-2 draw without a problem and is pushing for a place in United's side to tackle Charlton on 13 September.
Daniel Nardiello and Mark Lynch scored United's goals as they twice came from behind.
The game also featured Sunderland's Jason McAteer, who is finally back on the comeback trail following a hamstring injury.
With Black Cats boss Mick McCarthy among the interested spectators, McAteer floated over the second-half corner which Alan Tate nodded into his own net to put the visitors in front for the second time.
McAteer should be in contention to face Crystal Palace at the Stadium of Light next weekend.
