Kenyon's transfer warning
Peter Kenyon

Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon has warned boss Sir Alex Ferguson he is going to have to sell before signing any more big-money players.

The club recently spent £30m on defender Rio Ferdinand and, despite off-loading Dwight Yorke, more players could have to be sold to sign the high-profile striker Ferguson wants.

"The reality of the situation to date is that you can't just keep spending and adding players to the squad," said Kenyon.

United have been linked to Brazilian superstar Ronaldo but Kenyon rejected these claims.

And he said the club were not interested in Aston Villa forward Darius Vassell either.

He added: "The rumour we hear is that Ronaldo will be going to Real Madrid.

"We have neither approached or been approached about Ronaldo.

"Neither he or Darius Vassell feature in our ideas."
