Reserve keeper Raimond van der Gouw has signed a new one-year contract with Manchester United.

The 38-year-old Dutchman, a free transfer from Vitesse Arnhem five years ago, has made only 26 starts for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

He now faces further competition for his role as Fabien Barthez's deputy with the imminent arrival of Roy Carroll from Wigan.

But he played the whole match as United beat a Singapore League XI 8-1 on Tuesday.

He signed the extension to his United deal the day before flying out to Asia on the pre-season tour.
