Brown commits to Man Utd
Wes Brown
Brown is the latest player to commit to Old Trafford
England central defender Wes Brown has agreed a new four-year contract with Manchester United that will keep him at Old Trafford until the end of June 2005.

Brown has become the latest in a long line of players to commit to the club.

Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Denis Irwin all signed new contracts on Friday, following earlier deals with Ryan Giggs, Andy Cole, Jaap Stam, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Gary Neville and Phil Neville.

And United are expected to annouce their signing of Argentine international Juan Sebastian Veron later this week.

Sir Alex Ferguson
Ferguson has been busy securing his team
Only England captain David Beckham has still to agree a new contract, although he is expected to do so imminently.

Brown said: "I am delighted. I have been here a long time and I am looking forward to new challenges and that is what Manchester United is all about."

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Wes is a natural defender, his performance level is incredible.

"I am delighted he has committed himself to Manchester United."

Club chief executive Peter Kenyon has also welcomed Brown's decision.

"This is great news for the club and for the fans," said Kenyon.

"Wes has grown up at Manchester United and has been an outstanding player, and we look forward to even greater success for him and the team in the years to come."
