Yorke's Man Utd future in doubt
![]() United have not opened new contract talks with Yorke
Dwight Yorke's future at Manchester United is in doubt after club director Sir Bobby Charlton criticised his attitude.
Charlton reportedly told the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation that Yorke was "making it difficult for Alex Ferguson to use his services". Jack Warner, the federation's chief and the vice-president of Fifa, said: "Sir Bobby has asked me twice in the past week for Dwight Yorke to call him. "He felt Dwight was making it difficult for Alex Ferguson to use his services and, in this process, is ruining his career."
His off-field antics and late return from international matches have angered United boss Ferguson. The United board have not opened new contract negotiations with the 29-year-old. Earlier this week Yorke ended his international career after being hit by a one-game ban by Trinidad after he turned up late for their friendly against Panama. On Saturday he announced his international career was not over after he was reinstated to the Trinidad squad. Yorke issued an apology and said he was committed to his country. It is all a far cry from Yorke's first season at Old Trafford. He joined United from Aston Villa for £12.6m in August 1998 and scored 29 goals to help United complete the treble.
