PSV anger at 'unfair' Ferguson
Sir Alex's role has been described as 'unfair'

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's role in Ruud van Nistelrooy's transfer has been heavily criticised by PSV Eindhoven chairman Harry van Raay.

The Dutch striker completed a £19m move to Old Trafford last month, one year after his original deal fell through because of a knee injury.

I don't want the same hassle as last year - that's why I have set a deadline for the transfer money
  PSV chairman Harry van Raay.
Van Raay, who previously accused Sir Alex of behaving like the "king of football", claimed the Scot did not play fair in his negotiations.

"Ferguson played it well, but not fair," he said. "His suggestion that after his injury, Ruud could recuperate at United was scandalous.

"He asserted it would be better if Ruud trained with him. Yet if he really thought that, he should have taken the financial risk and bought Ruud last year."

According to Van Raay, Ferguson - who was praised over his handling of the injured striker - did little to help van Nistelrooy.

"The only thing he did was to call on the phone a few time," Van Raay said. "And then he gets praised because he has been so beneficial to Ruud.

"But we were the ones who did that. We even improved his contract. Van Nistelrooy cost us £1.4m in salary and physical rehabilitation this year.

"On top of that, there was an offer from Real Madrid which was higher than the price we agreed with Manchester United last year."

Van Raay also issued a warning to Ferguson over the transfer.

"I want my £19m in the bank by July," he told a sports website. "Otherwise there will be no release.

"I don't want the same hassle as last year - that's why I have set a deadline and demanded the sum be paid at once."
